Intent vs. Intention

In Toltec terminology, intention and intent are fundamentally different.

Intention is a construct of the mind. While widely emphasized in spiritual practices, it often operates unconsciously, reinforcing self-denial and old patterns. Attempting to solve problems with the mind—the same tool that created them—can be misguided.

Intent, on the other hand, is a deeper, intuitive impulse that flows through the high-heart (thymus), acting as a gateway to the subconscious. It connects to the Intent of Spirit, the universal force that drives all things.

For “sourcerers,” the focus is on gathering and directing power to align with intent. This can involve reclaiming emotional health by re-channeling harmful intent within oneself. Achieving this requires skepticism toward the mind’s false boundaries (the “dreaming membrane”), which limit access to the greater truth of intent.

When aligned with intent, one steps into true self-ownership, recognizing their innate power and potential as a living miracle. Intent invites humility and the rediscovery of natural abilities often overlooked or underused.
